Periodic updates are on the way!

In 2016 I went on a hiking trip in the  Patagonia region of Argentina.  It is a spectacular location for landscapes and wildlife photography.  The image to the right was taken during a 60 to 100 knot winds.  You will notice that everything in the picture is in focus.  This is called a technique called Hyperfocal Distance.

We started seriously shooting astrophotography images during The 2017 Great American Eclipse.  The image at the right was taken with a Canon 5DS R, a Canon 2x Extender, and a Canon 500mm lens.  We break down our Eclipse photography into two segments.  The first one is simply images of the eclipse without a foreground.  The second technique we used is shooting an Eclipse with a foreground.  You will currently see images from the 2017 Eclipse shot in Jackson, Wyoming.  The second set of images are the 2019 Eclipse taken on the coast of Chile.

We spent five years getting ready to shoot the December 14, 2020 eclipse in Argentina.  After COVID prevented us from shooting that eclipse we spent  a year trying to shoot an eclipse in Greenland.  That didn't work either.  Thank you Covid.  So we finally decided to go and shoot the Northern Lights and the active volcano in Iceland last fall.  While the volcano didn't cooperate the Northern lights sure did.  We had two great nights.

Northern Lights

This image of an Elk in velvet was taken in Yellowstone National Park near the Upper Falls.  Notice in the back left background is a second younger Elk who is also in velvet.  I used a shallow depth of field technique where the background of the image is defused (soft).   This tends to have the viewer look at the central portion of the image in contrast to using Hyperfocal Distance.

This set of images just didn't fit in the other categories.  Some were selected by Brit and some by me.  They just reflect images that I didn't feel should be left out of this presentation.  We are looking forward to your comments and any ideas that you may have on images that we should pursue capturing.
